Food Bank Fundraises For A Place To Call Their Own

For many years the Food Bank of the State College Area operated on “borrowed resources,” such as donated space, to store and distribute food to the thousands who depend on them each year to put food on the table. While they were of course grateful for the space, as the need grew, the system just wasn’t sustainable.

In 2013 the Food Bank realized they would have to purchase a space of their own and they needed to raise the funds to make this happen. They called Affinity Connection for help.

Affinity worked with them to develop a communications strategy that included consistent newsletters and appeal letters. The strategy was to show donors and potential donors how a dedicated space would best serve the community.

We are pleased to report that in November 2013 the Food Bank purchased a building on South Atherton Street as the new home of the Food Bank. They continue to work with Affinity Connection to keep in close contact with their donors.


With Affinity Connection’s fundraising system we were able to raise the funds needed to purchase a space of our own to better serve those in need in the community. We believe strongly in treating everyone who comes to us with dignity and respect. Affinity helped us get that message across.
