Alumni Interest Group at the University of Michigan
Fraternal Group Raises Over $2 Million in Alumni Commitments
Alumni support inspired by communications highlighting their mission to transform Greek life
This alumni group is not your conventional Greek Life organization. In 2016, concerned about the direction that the undergraduate members were taking their chapter, alumni made the unusual and difficult decision to voluntarily revoke its charter at the University of Michigan, thus ending its 171 years on campus. Six years later, dedicated alumni volunteers and a new group of hand-picked undergraduates have laid the groundwork for a new beginning with the help of Affinity Connection's comprehensive campaign support services.
Together with campaign leaders, we developed a strategic plan to engage with each alum on a personal level by using a DIY "Brother-asking-Brother" solicitation approach. In this multi-pronged effort, we also developed supporting communications to highlight how their new operating model will preserve and protect the organization's values and traditions in addition to securing its future.
In less than 14 months, the group has secured over $2 million in cash, pledges, and matching contributions for their Re-Founding Capital Campaign.
"The goal of the $2 million campaign is to support our re-founding efforts in two ways: renovations and upgrades to our historic Lodge and growing the corpus of our endowment to provide scholarships and ongoing financial support for undergraduate Brothers. With the incredible support we received from our team at Affinity Connection, we have made that vision a reality."
